Meet the Founder

Luis Román, Ph.D., is the founder of Transcending Wealth, a financial advisory firm built on independence, analytical rigor, and values-driven planning. A former mathematics professor and investment risk executive, Luis brings over two decades of experience spanning academia, asset management, and holistic financial planning.

Before launching Transcending Wealth, Luis held senior roles at leading institutions—including the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board (PRIM), Columbia Threadneedle Investments, and State Street Global Advisors, where he oversaw risk management for billions in assets across global markets. His background in quantitative finance and portfolio analytics gives him a rare ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies for clients.

In 2020, Luis began advising small business owners during one of the most challenging economic periods in recent history. That experience reinforced his conviction that financial health extends beyond portfolios—it touches every aspect of life, from family and business to legacy and purpose.

As an author and founder, Luis is driven by one mission: to help individuals, families, and business owners make informed, confident decisions that align their finances with their deepest values.
